Will Atherton (@iamwillatherton) showed himself playing with his dog in a video posted to TikTok.

"Puppy biting can be incredibly infuriating," he prefaced.

Some dogs, however, don't grow out of their snippy phase.

"It then becomes incredibly dangerous," he warned.

He recounted a labrador whose biting did not improve with age.

For the sake of the children living around the dog, Will shared how he trained the animal.

"First of all I had to assess is there any aggression behind this biting? Or is it playful?

"Luckily it was just over excitement, playful, learned behavior," he said.

He shared his two part approach for improving the canine's ways.

"I have to teach the dog that behavior is unacceptable in a loving way that the dog understands and then teach it what I do want it to do instead," he said.

He said his two prong technique helped the dog adjust to being a non-biter.

"You put those two things together and you can very very quickly have a dog go from a nightmare biter to never biting a human ever again," he said while giving the dog a chew toy to get his biting out.

The video drew in many dog owners in the comment section.

"This is exactly what I needed," one wrote. "This is the mistake I made with my dog."
